(For our students down here, they get “blockade” days instead of “snow” days.)
Father’s Day was March 18th. The ladies cooked a special meal for the fathers and their families, and had special skits and games. The picture below shows Diana’s acting abilities along with two other ladies. It was the first time the church had ever seen something like this done, and loved it.
The 26th in the evening, Dwight and I were on our way to Santa Cruz. Diana spent time working in the office while Dwight went on a trip with another leadership guy to visit two of our stations. The trip was a long, hard trip, as the vehicle kept breaking down and it had rained and the road was in really bad condition. But they made it back the 29th about 9pm, in time to start leadership meetings on the 30th and 31st. Diana wasn’t able to get all her work done, so we packed it up and brought it with us. We needed to get back on Saturday night, because Sunday, the 1st of April, was “pedestrian day” and we would not be able to drive home across town if we came in on Sunday until at least 5pm. So Sat night when we got in, we drove over to the hangar and got all the stuff that Dwight would need to work on the end of month from the house, via the internet. Praise the Lord he was able to get everything done and sent in. (Upon landing, we found out one of our bags didn’t make it….the one with all the stinky, dirty clothes made it; but the one with our deodorant, hairbrush, etc, didn’t. We had to wait till the evening on Sunday before we could drive to the airport to meet our poor, lost bag that came on a flight from La Paz.)
This week we have lots to do before we take off on Friday with the church for the family retreat campout this weekend. Pray that we will be a blessing as we sleep in tents and on the ground in sleeping bags. (Princess Di gets grouchy sometimes when she doesn’t get her “beauty rest”.) But there will be more about that in our April update.
Dwight was able to get his pilot’s license renewed, but once again it is just for 6 months. The Air office keeps promising him his indefinite license and then never comes through with it. Please pray that we can get that taken care of, as it is expensive and time consuming to go through this whole process every 6 months. They took so long to renew it (two months) that Dwight had to go get a new medical form filled out so he could get the whole 6 months and not just 4 months, like they did last time.
Missionary moment: I was visiting with a friend at the Saturday market and I mentioned how I had been sick with a sore throat and how it went into my ears and had given me a bad earache. I told her I had been on antibiotics and was finally getting better. She said I should have told her about it, because all you have to do, is find a nursing mother and ask her for a little bit of her milk. Take that milk and put a couple of drops in your ear, and then get a piece of cloth and plug your ear up with that. That, my friend, will cure your earache!! I don’t know why I had not thought of that!
Pray: – that Dwight will have wisdom in how to communicate with La Paz Air office about getting his indefinite license; someone has offered to get him an appointment with the director up there, to present his case.
– that we will be able to find a time that we can disciple the young couple at church who are new believers; between their schedule and ours it has been difficult

March 2012 Update A peek at March happenings: The school kids from the SIM school got to stay home for a week and had their assignments sent to them by internet, because of the many blockades going on with unhappy people.
