Abu’s grandfather

March 25, 2011 by Nadia Hattingh

Abu’s grandfather has the highest position in the local eastern religion in our community. He is simply known as the “Halifa!” His family are our “padrinhos” or the ones that take responsibility for us (Hattinghs) in this community.

HE WENT TO THE TEACHING FOR THE FIRST TIME THIS WEEK! Praise God! He also took one of the MegaVoice mp3 players to listen to the lessons taught this far.

In a neighbouring people group who are traditionally Christian-Animists, rich people from the city of this religion are pouring in money into that community to “convert” others. They are literally coming with bags of rice and other food stuffs, opening it up at the local church and promising people food if they “convert”.

Word got out that we are teaching about “Isa” (Jesus) and we suspect that this is the reason for Abu’s grandfathers sudden interest. We know that some people are disturbed, but we hope that outside influence and pressure will not come so soon. We knew that conflict will come, but are praying that people will learn as much as possible about the Truth before the pressures become too big and shut some of our friends out.

Whatever his motives to learn more about the Bible teaching, may Abu’s grandfather meet Isa and believe!

Pray that the Holy Spirit will imprint the Truth in his heart and that he will be compelled to continue to learn more.
