Let the all children come to Me…

April 20, 2011 by Nadia Hattingh

Touch by the children… A peek at our Mwinika children, taken during the last two weeks at the teaching:

#1 This little girl was Baby Sitting her younger siblings while her mother listened to the Bible teaching. She has a beautiful smile and willing heart to keep her high maintenance siblings occupied during the teaching every day. The people are so intent to hear everything, that for the first time ever that we know off, children and crying babies are “shushed” and taken a little distance away, so that others may hear. 🙂

#2 This cute little one was playing peek-a-boo with her playmate a little distance away! No matter what our colour or nationality, our children are all precious to us, play peek-a-boo when they are babies, are born in sin and need a Redeemer.

#3 This little one was fascinated by something he just discovered. He is sitting among the adult women who are all listening to the teaching. May he discover Jesus…

#4 This cutie has no hair! A terrible thing in the Mwinika culture. 🙂 Nevertheless, his mother loves him and faithfully comes to most of the lessons. Although she says she can’t read much eMwinika, she followed along while we were reading from the translated Word during the lesson. She is interested and understands what is being taught.

#5 This little girl was playing with my camera case and here she was about to shyly give it back to me. Some of the kids would touch my toes (or any other part sticking out!) during the teaching as Elin and I are the only white women they have ever seen.

#6 A baby who fell asleep (not because of the teaching, we hope! :-). She is lying next to her toddler brother who has a bad burn on the side of his face. The wound has been there when we started the teaching about two months ago and seems to heal very slowly. Because I was sitting next to her, his mother asked if I have medicine (which I have send on to her), but unfortunately their fatalistic culture often keeps the Mwinika from taking the initiative in seeking help. “What will be, will be.” May it be that many will turn to God!
