Expertly written by Nadia’s mom a week ago:
Dear friends in Jesus Christ
Perhaps like never before our prayers are needed for the budding Mwinika church. Since the Hattingh’s return there about two months ago they are experiencing a series of overwhelming spiritual attacks. The more important perspective however, is that every attack thus far was averted by the miracle-working power of our Heavenly Father.
The bad news of the past week is that Nadia has been diagnosed with malaria. She was taken to a main city in the north of the country by emergency flight because we feared for her life. With profound gratefulness we can testify that she is responding to treatment. She is however, very weak and her physical resistance is extremely low.
The Hattingh family is presently under the loving care of colleagues in this city. Nadia’s mother departs with the first available flight on Friday, 8th of June, to accompany them to the village if Nadia is by then able to travel.
We praise the Lord for extraordinary grace and provision! We are deeply moved by the providential hearing of prayers as well as the power of prayer with which the children of God serve each other across all borders. Above all we ask your continuous intercession that no power will be able to ever stop the saving work of the Lord amongst the Mwinika.
13 June Thank you so much for your prayers for Nadia. The last malaria test was negative and the doctor gave the clear for us to return home on Saturday. We are back among the Mwinika!
One of the reasons why we could return so soon, was because Nadia’s mum arrived via airplane on Friday to help us. It is raining and cold – for Mozambique, at least – as this is the middle of the cooler season when everyone battles colds and flues! Nadia is still not strong, in fact she is back in bed again, this time with a bad throat infection, looking like it can develop into bronchitis. Her resistance is very low and her body weak. We appreciate your continued prayers for her and our family. All the kids and Francois is also sick, and although Nadia’s mum is battling with an ear infection and also a chest infection, she is keeping us well fed and cared for! We are so thankful to God for allowing her to come!
Thank you for praying for us and the new born Mwinika church. We are sure the enemy of our souls are not very content with the situation! We still experience a difficult time, but we do not despair. We are save in our Father’s hands… This battle belongs to Him.
