During a family worship time this Sunday, we talked about 2 Corinthians 1 and how the Lord uses difficulties to teach us how to encourage others and to learn not to lean on our own strength. We talked about good things that can result from “our troubles”. I witnessed about how the Lord called me into missions: I didn’t want to at first, because I didn’t like changes. I wanted to live and bring our kids up in one place, one community. However, the Lord showed me that I should not put my faith and trust in places or people, but in Him.
This led to us talking about what difficulties might lie in our future… and that we will have to move away from Mwinikaland one day. Our kids’ reactions surprised us!
Heidi: “Are you SURE we’ll have to leave one day? Can’t we just stay here forever?”
Franco said: “Oh, how we will miss this place if we ever have to leave! I hope we can move into another tribe after we leave here! I love this kind of life!” Waldo also agreed: they don’t want to leave here or live in any other situation than the “remote bush” as we have here.
“What about living back in our passport country?” we asked, “Wouldn’t you want to live there?” Their answer:
“Well, maybe for a little while, but after some time, we would really like to move back to Mwinikaland.”
To be here in Mwinikaland truly is our privilege and joy! May we (and you!) always be open to recognize that the things we might think is the “worst thing that can happen”, could become our greatest blessing.
