A believer is like a … hose pipe!

September 16, 2012 by Nadia Hattingh

During a believers’ meeting Francois used a hose-pipe to explain servant hood: Just like water is channelled through a hose-pipe, God channels His care and love through believers to others around them. Just like a hose-pipe has only one opening but can water a big area, one believer can do more when he/she is being used by God. We are not following new rules, we are following Christ!

This group of Mwinika believers reacted enthusiastically. As the lesson continued, teaching more about what a believer do, one woman asked:

“How do we tell others this Good News? What do we say?” The group discussed this and came to the conclusion: we start from the Beginning! We don’t start with the Redeemer, but we first tell our neighbours about God, our sin and how man cannot come to God through his own efforts (Old Testament), then we tell them about God’s plan: Christ, the Saviour.

Even more encouraging is that these believers already worried about the salvation of the neighbours. They recognise that they have heard something profound and life changing, and they want to share Him!
