Update on Nelda

July 30, 2013 by Nadia Hattingh

Thank you for your prayers for Nelda, Salim’s 5 year old daughter. She did much better last night. She even talked and asked for food!

However late morning today (the same time as the previous day) she suddenly became sick again. She has a fewer and her hands are curled up and shaking. She seems to be in pain, but do not talk.

Salim and his wife have sought the help of a herbal doctor, saying that he has no spiritual connection. We do know however that these things are usually linked in this culture. He gave her a strong tranquilizer that made her sleep. (It is often used here as it appears to bring immediate results or healing). Please pray for them. Pray that they will stay firm in their belief. All their family, including the herbal doctor is at their house, keeping watch over the sick child. They expect the worst at any moment.

Salim was supposed to teach a Bible lesson tomorrow, but asked to be excused so that he can stay close to his daughter.

Pray that Nelda will be healed. We want to take her to the closest hospital tomorrow (and hour’s drive away on a bad road), however chances are that she would not be able to receive any help there. This do not seem to be normal sickness. We pray that God will be glorified and that what was meant for bad, will be turned into something good.
