The players continue to be a huge blessing and reaching far beyond the group of Mwinika that come daily to the evangelistic Bible teaching. Weekly we upload the new lessons on the players and hand it back to those who took responsibility for it. We are continually encouraged by their enthusiasm to share what they have learned with those family members and neighbours at home who were not able to come.
One story particularly caught our attention this week:
During the sickness and funeral of a prominent man in our community, a family member that came from a Mwinika village far from us, was exposed to the teaching. Alara immediately took to what she heard and was very excited about learning more about God! She begged us for a player and translated Scripture so that she can continue to hear the Bible lessons and read from God’s Word after she returned to her home.
She took about three months worth of lessons with her, but only a month later, Alara returned with her brother saying: “We are overwhelmed with people in our village wanting to hear the lessons and read from the Word!”
She produced a list of 53 names of people in her village that daily came to hear more of the lessons and she says that there are many more that came sporadically.
“People come and listen and understand! They want to hear more! Please come and teach God’s Word in our village…”
What a huge challenge we face! What makes this even more exciting is that people from a neighbouring people group are also living in this village and are now also exposed to God’s Word! This is not the first time we have been asked to come and teach in villages far from here…
In the words of Dan Rabe: “Isn’t that a great problem to have?” 🙂
Pray for wisdom as we, together with our team of Mwinika Bible teachers, seek God to know how to proceed. Pray too for Alara, her brother Tanial and all those from their villages who are hearing the Word.
