In 1997 I flew in a small aeroplane over Mozambique. It was my first time in a “fish tin” (that’s how the 8 seater looked like) and a great adventure! We flew from Maputo Mozambique, to Lichinga in the far north of the country, more than 3000 km in all. As we flew over vast areas of bush and woods, one could clearly see evidence of people in the cleared areas. Here and there smoke would rise lazily in the air where fires to clear more land were made. I was impressed with the huge areas of land where there were no roads, no brick buildings and no evidence of modern age. Most villages seemed completely isolated with only thin lines of tracks winding from one hamlet to the next.
Looking down on this land, I felt the Lord’s tuck in my heart: who will tell them that there is Hope and Life beyond this earth? How can one even start to reach these isolated areas where there are lost peoples, loved by our Father?
A few years later, when we heard about NTM coming to Mozambique, we jumped at the opportunity to reach these unreached people groups!
We have now been living in this isolated village in the middle of Mwinikaland for the last 10 years. We have learned the language, and are part of a team of two couples and 10 Mwinika guys translating the Bible, and developing lesson and literacy materials. How much God has done! How much still need to be done…
We celebrate God’s faithfulness! He truly does not want ONE person to be lost. The harvest is ripe, however the labourers so few. Does the Lord want to use you in some way to reach the unreached with his Good News? Do not wait another day to become part of this great venture and plan that will last for eternity.
