\"\"<\/a>Children’s Day is the biggest National Holiday in our community, however it is also the free-to-party and free-to-get drunk day for most adults. At the school close to our house a “video” club was hastily put up and the music and videos blaring from the huge speakers were with us through the day and that night.<\/p>\n

The children start to practise their dances since February. The dances itself is hip-shaking-suggestive and from a moral point of view, not so appropriate…<\/p>\n

We have been puzzled by the Mwinika’s reaction to the “video clubs” opening in most communities. Not because it is highly attended, but because other than in our culture where mostly young people frequent such places, children from 2 years up (with-OUT supervision) to the very old got regularly attend such a video night. When a video club opened right next to us a few months ago, our one neighbour mentioned that her 3 year old daughter “loves the videos” and regularly attend the video nights only to return in the early morning hours… We’ve had quite a challenge some mornings to start our work, since not only we are tired after a sleep disturbed night, but also our helpers (some from attending, some because of the close proximity to their houses).<\/p>\n

Pray for good rest during this intense time as we near the end of the teaching (and the beginning of our home assignment). Pray for our neighbours and their children.<\/p>\n
