They believe that a spirit called-&#8220;shetani&#8221; (that is white and comes from the sea) has caused a sickness and he and his other evil spirits must be chased away. The witchdoctor or sick person has a revelation (usually through a dream) and then this ceremony (coming in three parts) must be performed if the person wants to live. During a all-night 3 day ceremony the sickness is transferred to a white chicken (seen on the left on the picture) and the evil spirits chased away.<\/p>\n<p>This picture was taken last week during such a ceremony.
