As we write this, Libanya, is looking forward to going home to be with the Lord. You may remember him. We had a picture of him in one of our updates – a curly haired guy cranking a Saber MP3 player with Bible lessons on it. He has had numerous kidney infections over the years. They have been becoming more frequent, and now his kidneys are failing. He wanted to just go to be with the Lord, but he was take out to a hospital in a city a number of hours away and it was recommended that he come home to die.
We just this minute hear wailing, he is gone.
Libanya has been a strong believer for many years and even taught the evangelistic phase of the teaching even though he couldn’t read. He had a fantastic mind and probably never forgot anything he was taught from God’s Word. He was a greatly beloved man. We will miss him.
Please PRAY for his family. He leaves a wife, a married daughter, a teenage son, two blind daughters, a little girl, and a little boy.
We had an interesting trip out to look at housing in a town out on the highway. The 70km of “road” going to the first paved road is in the worse shape we have seen it in during our 27 years here. A number of times we wondered if we would make it through, or if we would tip over into a deep hole left by the wheels of logging trucks.
We found only one house for rent in the town we would possibly relocate to. It was small, dark, smelly, and floods in heavy rains. Not enough room for our computer work stations, printing, laminating, translation helper room etc.
Because the road going out is so bad we left our truck at the NTM guest house and flew back in for the five weeks we have before beginning our journey to the States.
After considering all pros and cons again, we have decided that unless the Lord somehow shows us a house to relocate to we will stay where we are.
PS: We’ve learned that as Libanya died he said, “I’m going,” and he raised his hand toward the sky and said, “There.”
