Why did God send a typhoon through our area? Only He knows all the reasons, but we can clearly see one of them. In Manubu’ areas that were hard hit, including where we live, there are unsaved Manubu’ begging to be taught God’s Word. They say, “God is angry, we’d better listen to the teaching about Him.”
Perhaps another reason for the typhoon is what one of the Manubu’ Bible teachers said. He said, “If God hadn’t destroyed my Falcatta plantation (he cuts and sells Falcatta logs) I would be concentrating my life on logging, now I can concentrate on spreading His Word.”
We mentioned in a previous update that Manubu’ believers from a number of widely scattered villages were planning to gather together in a lowland village for fellowship and encouragement. They did, and we’ve heard that they were greatly encouraged.
We also mentioned in our last update that most of the rice seed the Manubu’ in our area that had saved for planting in the Spring was ruined by the typhoon rains as roofs were torn off from their storage houses by the wind.
We are setting up a project fund to buy seeds for the Manubu’ for this coming planting season. If you would like to contribute to this project you can send funds to Finance office, New Tribes Mission, 1000 E 1st St, Sanford, FL 32771-1487. Specify that it is for the 6MANU account, not our personal account. If you would like to make it specific for seeds, you can indicate that. But, all of the funds presently in the Manubu’ project fund have been specified for other purposes, so if you would like to give to the Manubu’ project funds without specifying what it is for we could then use it to meet whatever need the Manubu’ have that it would be good for us to help with.
