Translating Psalms is exciting, and convicting, and encouraging. How about what David says in Psalm 40:5, "Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which you have done and your thoughts towards us; there is none to compare with you. If I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count." Wonderful thoughts to meditate on for encouragement. So thankful for the Lord’s amazing love and care for us and for the book of Psalms.
With all of the poetic figures of speech and often a multitude of different ideas of commentators as to what the Hebrew means, translation is difficult – probably the most difficult book to translate that we have translated so far! Except that we continually look to the author, the Holy Spirit, for help, the job is impossible. Please PRAY that we won’t forget to always look to the Holy Spirit for help and not just depend on our own intellect. It is so encouraging when we pray over a passage and suddenly, it all becomes clear!
We are so thankful for the years (34+) that God has allowed us to serve Him among the Manubu’ people. And thankful too for all who are our partners in this ministry through prayer and gifts.
