“Seven long hours at the hospital and now we are back in our camper. I
\njust took a few minutes to walk up to the beach and check out the
\nsunset. The ocean is my happy place.<\/p>\n
The CAT scan with dye showed that both arteries in his neck are
\ncompletely blocked on the stroke side and carotid on the other side is
\n3\/4 blocked so he’s running on about 25%. They said they can’t do
\nanything for a couple weeks til the inflammation dies down so that gives
\nus time to get home and find a Dr. There’s a new program the hospital
\ntold us about for veterans. Since the VA is so overwhelmed they issue a
\ncard that allows the vet to see an outside Dr and the VA pays for it.
\nPlease pray that Howie will be able to get the card and the hospital
\nbill for the stroke will be covered as well as future visits.<\/p>\n
He’s realizing a little that he’s using the wrong words. He said he
\nknows what he’s thinking, it’s just not coming out right. He’s really
\nlucky that he can say words even if they’re wrong.<\/p>\n
I really thank all who have been praying for us. It’s working. Howie’s
\nson, Spankie, is flying out to drive us back home to Missouri. Howie has
\nresigned himself to being driven back home, although he thinks he’s
\ngoing to drive while Spankie sleeps. We’ll deal with that when it gets
\nhere. Spankie is planning to stop for the night so that should be good
\nwith no pressure to drive. It’s a 34+ hour trip. Howie’s finally
\nsettled down about it and hopefully it won’t be all new again in the
\nmorning. He still gets confused on what happened to him and asked me
\ntoday if he had a stroke.”<\/p>\n
We too thank you all who have been praying and thank those who have sent
\nemails to us saying they were praying. Please continue to*PRAY* for
\nHowie and Michelle – that Howie will continue to be willing to be
\ndriven, will continue to improve, safe travel while they haul that big
\ntravel trailer back to MO, and that Howie will be able to get the
\nmedical help he needs when they get back home. And especially *PRAY*
\nthat this experience which the Lord has allowed will draw them closer to
\nHim.<\/p>\n
