{"id":395,"date":"2017-09-12T05:38:05","date_gmt":"2017-09-12T09:38:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/gene-trudeau\/?p=395"},"modified":"2017-09-12T05:38:06","modified_gmt":"2017-09-12T09:38:06","slug":"pray-for-the-truck-and-wonderful-arrival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/gene-trudeau\/2017\/09\/12\/pray-for-the-truck-and-wonderful-arrival\/","title":{"rendered":"Pray for the Truck and Wonderful Arrival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When we were using an airstrip 5 miles from our village we used a 4&#215;4<br \/>\noff road truck to take cargo and us back and forth to that airstrip.<br \/>\nNow, that our mission aviation department is using a helicopter it is<br \/>\nable to land right near our village so we no long have need for the<br \/>\ntruck.\u00a0 A few days ago there had been a few days without rain so Mahan,<br \/>\nour Manubu driver, was able to drive our truck down the terrible road<br \/>\nfrom our village to the lowlands where he parked it next the house of<br \/>\nDani, a Manubu&#8217; Bible teacher.\u00a0 We were planning to fly by helicopter to<br \/>\nnearby where the truck is and Gene would drive it to the city where a<br \/>\nfriend at an off-road repair shop offered to sell it for us.\u00a0 Was not<br \/>\nlooking forward to that trip as it would take about 10 to 12 hours and<br \/>\nGene hasn&#8217;t driven more than a 2 hour trip since his stoke three years<br \/>\nago and not able to drive that trip straight through.\u00a0 It\u00a0 would involve<br \/>\na number of overnight stays on the way.<\/p>\n<p>A couple of days ago, Dani called and said that a government engineer<br \/>\nliving near where the truck is located wants to buy it &#8211; and for the<br \/>\namount we have been hoping to get for it!\u00a0 How to get together with the<br \/>\nengineer to go to a lawyer to make the transfer of ownership has been a<br \/>\nproblem because he wants to buy it right away and we have no way to get<br \/>\nwhere he is because our pilot is in the States for more than two weeks.\u00a0<br \/>\nHowever, we are in the city buying supplies and the engineer has said<br \/>\nthat is willing to drive the truck to us here.\u00a0 That is in the process<br \/>\nof being worked out.<\/p>\n<p>Our not having to make that trip ourselves is a real blessing from the<br \/>\nLord.\u00a0 So, please *PRAY* that it will work out for the sale to be made<br \/>\nincluding safety for the engineer as he drives and also that the truck<br \/>\nwouldn&#8217;t fail him on the way.\u00a0 It really is a sound vehicle, but it is<br \/>\n21 year old.<\/p>\n<p>We are so thankful for Kevin and Jenny who arrived last month to manage<br \/>\nour guesthouse.\u00a0 They are the retired parents of our pilot&#8217;s wife.\u00a0 We<br \/>\nspent a few days orienting them to the ministry.\u00a0 They are getting right<br \/>\ninto and\u00a0 doing a good job.\u00a0 It is a big job.\u00a0 The guesthouse consists<br \/>\nof a large building which includes 5 guestrooms, a kitchen, living room<br \/>\nand dinning room, library, and kitchenette for guest use.\u00a0 There is also<br \/>\na separate building with 2 guestrooms and also a workshop building, a<br \/>\nstorage building, and another building where tribal people from our<br \/>\nvillages who come out to town for various reasons can stay.\u00a0 For<br \/>\nexample, our translation helpers whom we flew out from our village a<br \/>\ncouple of times while we were managing the guesthouse stayed there.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a generator to service and start and stop during the<br \/>\nfrequent power out-ages.\u00a0 There are also two vehicles for the managers<br \/>\nto keep serviced and in repair.\u00a0 Mangers also oversee the yardman and<br \/>\nour house girl who cleans and cooks.\u00a0 And managers also do the<br \/>\naccounting for guest charges, worker hours, things bought for the<br \/>\nguesthouse, etc.\u00a0 A very big job.<\/p>\n<p>So, thank God with us for Kevin and Jenny.\u00a0 We are now freed up to<br \/>\nreturn to our tribal village and will be doing so soon.<\/p>\n<p>We along with you all are praying for those recovering from the<br \/>\nhurricanes in the USA.\u00a0 We have so many friends who live in those areas.<\/p>\n<p><!--Posted by Email--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When we were using an airstrip 5 miles from our village we used a 4&#215;4 off road truck to take cargo and us back and forth to that airstrip.
