Tree Planting at North Cotes

December 17, 2014 by Geoff and Dar Gail McNabb

This year we were given a gift of 420 trees from the Woodland trust, they were given to help commemorate the beginning of WWI  and all those who gave there lives for our freedom.

The work detail guys (students who work with me on the grounds Monday, Wednesday and Friday) did most of the ground prep and planting although we did have a planting day for the students and staff to come out and help. We also had the joy of the campus nursery kids come and plant some trees too.

As North Cotes college is sited on an old WWII air field its a fitting memorial for those who died flying from here, on the site we have cherry trees planted all over each tree represents a fallen pilot but they are starting to die off so these will be a fitting replacement.
