A cool breeze blew across the lawn on that hot February afternoon in 2012 as we stood before our friends and family and together sang that wonderful hymn, Great is Thy Faithfulness.\u00a0 That song has indeed been the overarching theme of our married life as God has continually proven Himself faithful.<\/p>\n

Faithful in every way.<\/p>\n

As we sang those words this past Sunday, I had no idea that once again, God was about to give us the opportunity to grow in faith and trust Him to be the Faithful One.<\/p>\n
We set out from North Cotes Tuesday afternoon, a little behind schedule, but not too worried as we had planned in some buffer time.\u00a0 The sun was shining in a blue sky as we traveled the first hour or so towards the port where we would get on the ferry to cross to Ireland.\u00a0 As the journey progressed, we hit rain that turned to sleet and snow.\u00a0 Then traffic slowed to a halt as we approached Manchester at rush hour.\u00a0 Looking at the map I began to panic, seeing that our buffer was quickly being eaten up and it was likely that the original time we had calculated was grossly wrong.\u00a0 Traffic finally cleared and we began picking up speed on the motorway.\u00a0 Then the words \u201cuh-oh\u201d escaped my husband\u2019s mouth as the engine of our \u201893 Land Rover Discovery cut out.<\/p>\n
Begin opportunity to trust God!<\/p>\n
The adventure of the past 24 hours has shown us once again that while God\u2019s ways are not our ways, He IS in control and He is Faithful!\u00a0 He demonstrated this through the assistance of friends caravanning with us, a quick response from the roadside assistance, a free place to spend the night with friends in the area.\u00a0 He orchestrated weather that cancelled our original ferry crossing allowing us to re-schedule for the following day, and when I called the American Consulate to see if I could change our appointment to register Grace\u2019s birth, the lady informed me she had already sent me an email asking if we could re-schedule. \u00a0As if that were not enough, He allowed the garage where our car was towed to solve the problem quite quickly and for a much more affordable price than originally expected.<\/p>\n
It struck me that today is April Fool\u2019s day.\u00a0 The Psalmist states, \u201cThe fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.\u201d\u00a0 As we were pulled over to the side of the road yesterday awaiting help, I was in tears, worried and frustrated.\u00a0 Essentially, I was saying, there is no God in this situation.\u00a0 Thankfully, the Lord helped me to refocus and choose to trust Him, experiencing His peace as we awaited the outcome.\u00a0 I do not want to be a fool, April or otherwise.\u00a0 I want to say \u2013 there IS a God, and He is FAITHFUL!\u00a0 I know the outcome may not always be as rosy as they were this time, but God will always be faithful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
