Thank you again for praying for Jackie. And we’re sorry!
We realized after the fact that some people are likely not aware of why Jackie has constant dizziness.
While we were in training with New Tribes Mission, Jackie got Lyme disease. The doctor prescribed two weeks of antibiotics, even though the CDC at the time said four weeks was required, and instead of going away, the disease simply hid.
It resurfaced again while we were on deputation ten years ago, and after the doctors had completely failed to figure out the problem, they agreed to treat her for Lyme disease as long as we “signed off” on it. They did, and she got better.
Apparently what happened then was that the disease went into a cyst form and hid. It resurfaced a few years back, and after going through a whole bunch of rigamarole with the medical community, we finally found someone who would treat for chronic Lyme disease.
She has not fully recovered from that, and continues to have constant dizziness, which is sometimes so bad that she cannot get out of bed. Hence, she had qualified as disabled, and volunteers with New Tribes Mission as she can.
Her hope is to some day learn to cope with the dizziness well enough to walk without a cane and get off disability. Perhaps it will take a miracle. Please pray.
