The world’s greatest job

How do you feel about your work?

I know there are times when I feel like the best I can say is, “I can’t complain.” (Although, truth be told, that isn’t even always true.)

But really, I have the world’s greatest job.

Monday I worked all day on the script for our upcoming short film with Nate Griffin and Regina Sullivan, and we’re all really happy with the way it came out.

One of my other co-workers, Patrick Hatcher, read it and wrote to me, “Wow! Now I have goosebumps!”

That would be great if this was just a short film, but this is so much more. It’s an opportunity to give a whole lot of people a look at how they can be part of the work God is doing.

So I was thinking this morning that I would almost like to just bask in that glow for a while, but I had some other work to get to and … wow, but it just doesn’t seem much like work.

I had to return a form about our ministry to our home church. It was a lengthy form and took some time to work through, but it was also a huge opportunity for us to get them more informed, interested and involved in our ministry.

Especially since the last two questions were, “How can we pray for you?” and “What needs do you have that we may be able to help you with?”

So I checked through that one more time and sent it on its way, and turned my attention to my next task: Boiling some stories down to a couple of sentences for displays at the Oshkosh air show.

That’s certainly going to take a lot of creative energy. But I get to read all these amazing stories from missionary pilots working with a variety of organizations in a bunch of different roles around the world, and I’m thrilled to be part of telling those stories.

I imagine that along the way today, I’ll also be involved with stories that go on the NTM website; with opportunities for people to get involved with expanding our training center, so more people can be trained, so more tribes can here; with some of our inspiring stories for Christian radio, or our next magazine issue, or … around here, who knows?

All I know is that every day, I get to be part of this story, and to help others be part of the story too.

And I think that’s a pretty good job.

But … back to you … and the question I asked you. How do you feel about your work?

How would you like to have the greatest job in the world?

How would you like to use the skills, talents, training, gifts, abilities that you have, to be part of the story?

We’d love to give more writers, photographers, videographers, artists, designers and editors opportunities in Communications. And that’s just one area of ministry.

You could use your construction skills to free other missionaries to concentrate on their ministries. You could keep computers in tip-top shape, or install and maintain networks, to make other missionaries more efficient. You could do whatever it is that accountants do so that the right amount of money gets to the right places with the right accountability and documentation, so God’s work has the funds needed to go forward.

It’s likely that what you do for a living, you could do as a missionary, and as part of the story. Yes, you can have the world’s greatest job too. Find your path >>
