Your prayers are key to our trip

September 23, 2010 by Ian and Julie Fallis

This is NOT how Julie and I plan to get around Thailand.
This is NOT how Julie and I plan to get around Thailand.

Can you believe that Julie and I leave for Thailand the first week of October?

I’m not sure I can. Julie told me it seems unreal to her as well. That may change when we make checklists and start packing.

As our unreality shifts into nervous excitement, we’d appreciate your prayers.

Thank God for providing

Thank you for praying and giving! With your help, we need only $200 to cover our minimum expenses in Thailand; $900 would cover all we believe we should have for this trip.

(If you’re still thinking about giving, now would be a great time to help finish off our needs and get us on our way. Give online or find out more >>)

And of course, let’s give credit where credit is due: God is providing. Please thank him with us.

Pray that our trip helps people get involved

That’s the reason we’re going, after all.

Julie and I will gather video, photos and stories. Those will be used to show people in the USA what God is doing among tribal people in Thailand. And that will be done in a way that encourages others to get involved, or to get more involved.

I trust you can see from your own involvement that it’s a good thing to be part of God’s work. You should be encouraged to see prayers answered, and to take part in meeting the needs. And perhaps your faith has been stretched and strengthened by stepping outside your comfort zone to do so. Julie says hers has.

Pray for a safe, successful trip

Because we cross 11 time zones and the International Date Line, we arrive 38 hours after we leave on our 26-hour trip. Weird. At least the 29 hour trip back takes just 17 hours.  Wait, is that good? I’m getting jet lag just thinking about it.

We’ll be in Thailand for three weeks. We’re still working out where we’ll go when, with whom, and how. Pray that we stay focused and create high-quality, God-honoring work, and that our equipment holds up to the stresses of travel and remote, tropical locales.

Please also pray that Julie and I don’t catch any tropical diseases. I don’t remember much about the malaria I brought back from Indonesia a couple of years ago, but I’m pretty sure I didn’t enjoy it. We’ve had our shots, of course.

We’ll keep you posted

While we may have trouble getting out an e-mail update, we will endeavor to keep this blog updated on our trip.
