We hit the road again Thursday, bound for a conference at our training center in Missouri.
So I was, let’s say, disappointed that the car wouldn’t start when we tried to leave for church Sunday.
Julie and I continue to drive thousands of miles for our ministry each year. I think the most reasonable course is to replace our 11-year-old car – purchased primarily because something small, inexpensive and economical made sense as a second car. It’s not just the age and mileage; we also need something larger.
Yet God has continued to meet our needs with this car.
- Every Sunday in May, when I was teaching, the car started.
- Sunday we found a ride to church, and were able to be a blessing as well as being blessed.
- We made it to every single one of our meetings this year without a vehicle problem.
And Monday, and then again today, it started just fine. So I’m not asking you to pray for a new car for us. I’m not even asking you to pray for our needs. God has promised to supply our needs.
I’m asking you to pray that:
- Our perspective will be godly. God is not meeting our needs the way we would prefer – and that’s when you and I often get in trouble, isn’t it?
- God glorifies His name. He will meet our transportation needs. He has a variety of ways to do that. I want to see it happen in the way that brings the most glory to His name.
- We allow God to order our priorities on this trip. We’d like smooth, uneventful travel to and from Missouri. But God may have other things in mind. Pray that we’re listening to Him and ready to change our plans to fit His plans.
The June conference is a gathering of our missionaries from around the globe, so Julie and I will …
- Be encouraged in our behind-the-scenes work by hearing what God is doing
- Gather stories that will encourage others to stay involved or even get more involved in the work God is doing
- Meet with a variety of missionaries our department serves to keep relationships strong.
We expect this trip to cost $1,200 for food, gas, lodging and conference fees.
Thanks for your support of our ministry through prayers, giving and encouragement.
