It’s a story no one’s lining up to hear.
But it needs to be told. An authentic story, a story people will identify with, and a story that can inspire people to get involved.
And I’m inviting you to partner with me to tell it.
It’s a story of years and year of painstaking, anguished and often physically brutal work. Of perseverance and hardship and sacrifice. It’s the stuff a novelist shares to set up a big payoff.
Only there’s no big payoff. Just more hard work.
Because it’s real.
It’s like your story and my story. Years of faithful service haven’t brought great rewards. They’ve brought new challenges, as if God is saying, “Well done! Now you can handle more.”
That’s why I want to tell this story. Why I need to tell this story, and why I think it will move people to act. And why I hope you’ll partner with me to do so.
Missions has enough glowing reports of big numbers and mass movements. Too many, in my opinion. We need to hear the stories of real men and women, for whom it’s normal to work and work and work, and never see the results this side of Heaven.
And we need to be reminded that we don’t have to stop there. That we can’t. That we can do more than find solace in that – we can find joy and peace in simply knowing God and serving Him.
That’s why I’m going to Thailand in November, and why I’m asking for your partnership.
In a country that is close to 99 percent Buddhist, laying a solid foundation for Christian growth and outreach “takes a long time,” said Larry Goring, the leader of NTM’s international ministries team. And the work among the Prai people “proves that it can be done,” Larry added.
Yes, though I’m now a strategist, I’m still writing and editing, and doing some photography. And while I’m in Thailand I’ll also be attending a meeting of more than 160 NTM leaders from around the world, which will help me ensure our efforts dovetail with our international strategy.
