The Moi believers are excited that starting about this time next week they get to help make a video … and I hope you are too.<\/p>\n

You see, the Moi believers know what it’s like to live with the reality of illness and hunger, death and despair. They know what it’s like to scrape the jungle for food, to sell their daughters in marriage at 12 and 13 years old, to work until they are bone-tired from before sunrise to after sunset, just to survive, and then get up and do it all again.<\/p>\n

Most importantly, they know what it’s like to live without hope. Now that they’ve had an opportunity to discover the hope that comes from a saving relationship with God, they would never go back.<\/p>\n

And what got them excited was the idea that by helping with this video, they will be helping others who are just like they were, become like they are today.<\/p>\n

Can you imagine what it’s like to live the way the Mois used to? Can you grasp what a huge change the Gospel made in their lives?<\/p>\n

I’m not sure I can, and I work with stories like theirs almost every day.<\/p>\n

That’s why videos like this are so important. Videos can bring home the reality of life among tribal people in ways that no other media can. Videos can help more people get involved in what God is doing. And He has presented some great opportunities.<\/p>\n

More than 100 tribes have invited New Tribes Mission to send people to work among them … learn their culture and language … teach them God’s Word … and plant a church.<\/p>\n

But without some big changes, it’ll take five years before we can get people into even half of those tribes.<\/p>\n

I’m convinced that one reason is that folks don’t comprehend the depth of despair that comes from living without hope. From not even knowing that there is another way, let alone The Way. From living in fear, with death ever-present.<\/p>\n

We’re not making this video because videos are cool. We’re not doing this because we want New Tribes Mission to get bigger. We’re not doing this because we enjoy sitting in airplanes and airports for 48 hours straight (although I think that’s where the idea of Purgatory comes from).<\/p>\n

We’re doing this because we want people like you to have opportunities to help take God’s message of salvation to people who would otherwise have no hope.<\/p>\n

Please pray that all our connections go smoothly. We have minimal time in each location in order to get out to the tribe and get to work as quickly as possible. Pray especially for our connections in Chicago, where our Florida-based team meets up with our folks coming from Nashville; and in Bali, where we hook up with one key person coming from Europe.<\/p>\n

Please pray that God works in hearts to give generously to our ministry. Our current budget allows us to spend next to nothing on ministry, and traveling is increasingly important to our ministry and increasingly expensive. We’re looking to God for people who want to help reach tribal people who have no hope, by taking part in our ministry financially. And if He’s talking to you about that, you need to do it. Not for our sakes; He’s promised to take care of us. You need to do it to keep your relationship with God moving forward. He wants to bless you.<\/p>\n

Please pray that God will thrust our laborers into His harvest. That was Jesus’ only prayer request, ever, by the way. Be obedient to pray the way He requested – and to do what He puts on your heart as your role in His plan to be glorified among every tribe, tongue and nation.<\/p>\n

I’m not looking forward to 48 consecutive hours in planes and airports. It’s the reason — helping tribal people know Jesus and make Him known — that has me worked up.
