So they were amazed that more than 225 “packed our meeting place and gathered outside and around the door to hear and see,” wrote Mike Cratch.

The missionaries simply shared the Gospel, and left it to sink in.

“We spent the afternoon meeting with them informally and seeing where they were at,” Mike wrote. “I had several great talks and heard tear-jerking testimonies of faith in Christ.

“One guy unprompted took off his dirty shirt and said he is clean. He then pretended to put the shirt on an imaginary cross. ‘Jesus took my dirty shirt,’ he said. It was especially neat because he had not heard that type of imagery from us. He came up with it on his own.”

At the same time, some Abaus stumbled over the simplicity of the Gospel.

“As a team we discussed that like the Apostle Paul thousands of years ago, if the Gospel was clear we would be accused of teaching lawlessness,” Mike wrote. “We were.”

Pray for the missionaries to have discernment and the right words as they continue to talk with the Abaus. It takes a long time for six people to hold one-on-one talks with more than 200 people! Pray that the Gospel will be clear to each of the Abaus who heard it.

Pray also for the new Abau church. This is just the beginning of a journey. The missionaries are there to make disciples, and plant a church that continues that work not only among the Abaus, but among neighboring tribes as well.

And as Mike wrote, “Thank you for your part in reaching them.”

Missionaries shared the Good News and let it sink in.
