They’re learning Swahili. I’m being annoying.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I think that in the days before I left home for Africa, I must have said to Julie at least three times, \u201cI like being overseas. It\u2019s the getting there I\u2019m not fond of.\u201d Suffice it to say, that was even more true this time. But I must say, being rerouted onto Emirates was a treat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yesterday was a recovery day for us, and I think we mostly succeeded. Today we launch into interviews with some of the Westerners and Tanzanians who make up the team here.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pray for our continuing adjustment to the time zone change. A good night\u2019s sleep would be a very good thing at this point, especially considering the packed schedule we have.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pray for my photography. The lighting here is challenging \u2013 intense sunlight with huge contrasts. I can make that work, but make no mistake, it is work to get magazine-quality shots in this light.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
