{"id":52,"date":"2006-12-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2006-12-28T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-08-16T01:15:11","modified_gmt":"2009-08-16T05:15:11","slug":"keeping-the-season-in-perspective","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/ian-fallis\/2006\/12\/28\/keeping-the-season-in-perspective\/","title":{"rendered":"Keeping the season in perspective"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The Christmas Eve service in the Nakwi tribe of <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Papua New Guinea<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region> wasn&rsquo;t elaborate.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&rdquo;But there on the dirt floor under the leaky palm-leaf enclosure,&rdquo; wrote Tim Askew, &ldquo;the miraculous story of Christ&rsquo;s advent was retold and recounted by Nakwi Bible teachers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Soon they will hold their annual Christmas-New Years party, sharing foot and playing outdoor games.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">But Tuti, one of the Nakwi teachers, kept it all in perspective. <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">&ldquo;Soon we&rsquo;ll be having a party and eating lots of food,&rdquo; he said. &ldquo;That stuff is just temporal. We were living in sin&rsquo;s prison, and we were going to die there. Jesus came from Heaven to free us, to open our road to Heaven. That&rsquo;s why we&rsquo;re happy today.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Thank God with us that not only did He open our road to Heaven. He gives us opportunities to help others find that road. We wanted to go to <st1:country-region w:st=\"on\"><st1:place w:st=\"on\">Papua New Guinea<\/st1:place><\/st1:country-region>, and perhaps even work with the Askews.
