{"id":182,"date":"2014-05-26T06:23:02","date_gmt":"2014-05-26T11:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/tengreenfeet.wordpress.com\/?p=2"},"modified":"2014-05-26T06:23:02","modified_gmt":"2014-05-26T11:23:02","slug":"a-journey-of-a-thousand-miles-begins-with-a-single-step","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/imie-mark\/2014\/05\/26\/a-journey-of-a-thousand-miles-begins-with-a-single-step\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/imie-mark\/files\/2014\/05\/start.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-27 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/imie-mark\/files\/2014\/05\/start.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"Start\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/imie-mark\/files\/2014\/05\/start.jpg 500w, https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/imie-mark\/files\/2014\/05\/start-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not well versed in sayings of Chinese philosophers, but Laozi was right when he penned those opening words.\u00a0 It is with humble hearts (who are we that we might take part in this marvelous work?) and a bit of trepidation (as we leave behind the life we\u2019ve known) that our family begins our journey in this thing called \u201cmissions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As I look over its dictionary entry, topping the list of definitions for \u201c<a title=\"Merriam-Webster definition\" href=\"http:\/\/www.merriam-webster.com\/dictionary\/mission\" target=\"_blank\">mission<\/a>\u201d is \u201cthe act or an instance of sending.\u201d\u00a0 Sounds simple enough, right?\u00a0 But there\u2019s so much wrapped up in those few words when applied to the journey we\u2019re undertaking.\u00a0 There\u2019s someone doing the sending (our local church), there\u2019s a vehicle for movement (New Tribes Mission), there\u2019s something or someone being sent (us), there\u2019s a destination (foreign fields of service), and then there\u2019s the million steps in between.<\/p>\n<p>Wherever the Lord shall direct our steps (<a title=\"Proverbs 16:9 (Bible.com)\" href=\"https:\/\/bible.com\/111\/pro.16.9.niv\" target=\"_blank\">Proverbs 16:9<\/a>), His words to His servant Joshua in the days of old still ring out, \u201cBe strong and courageous.\u00a0 Do not be terrified;
