{"id":60,"date":"2015-02-14T17:22:31","date_gmt":"2015-02-14T22:22:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tengreenfeet.wordpress.com\/?p=60"},"modified":"2015-11-19T02:24:59","modified_gmt":"2015-11-19T07:24:59","slug":"mark-family-mission-statement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/imie-mark\/2015\/02\/14\/mark-family-mission-statement\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Family Mission Statement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/imie-mark\/files\/2015\/02\/whats-your-mission.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"  wp-image-62 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/imie-mark\/files\/2015\/02\/whats-your-mission.jpg?w=300\" alt=\"what is your mission?\" width=\"420\" height=\"313\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That was the question put to us last semester at the conclusion of one of our courses at the <a title=\"MTC Overview\" href=\"http:\/\/usa.ntm.org\/mtc-overview\" target=\"_blank\">Missionary Training Center<\/a> (MTC). \u00a0What&#8217;s your family about? \u00a0What&#8217;s your focus? \u00a0Where are you\u00a0investing yourselves? \u00a0These were just some of the questions we sought to answer as we engaged in developing our family&#8217;s mission statement. \u00a0You may be thinking, &#8220;Family mission statement, really?&#8221; \u00a0Yes, really.<\/p>\n<p>Every unit we served with in the military had a mission statement. \u00a0A single statement in which was distilled the most important aspects of the very purpose for which\u00a0that unit existed. \u00a0It not only focused the efforts of those working\u00a0under\u00a0it, but also determined where their limited resources would best\u00a0be allocated. \u00a0It was a statement simple enough that everyone could remember it, yet profound enough that every activity could be measured against it, &#8220;How does what I&#8217;m doing right now contribute to the accomplishment of my mission?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>We too wish to spend our time and expend our effort wisely as a family. \u00a0Proverbs 17:24 says, &#8220;Wisdom is the focus of the perceptive, but a fool&#8217;s eyes roam to the ends of the earth.&#8221; (HCSB) \u00a0In this day and age where distractions bombard us at every turn, to the very &#8220;ends of the earth&#8221; as it were, we wanted something to help cut through the clutter and focus us that we might discern the Lord&#8217;s direction for our family in whatever situation\u00a0we find ourselves. \u00a0After much prayer and discussion this is it; this is the Mark family in a nutshell&#8230;<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em>Understand and know God ourselves; clearly and boldly communicate God\u2019s truth to others.<\/em><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<hr \/>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Below are the foundational Scripture references from which our statement was derived:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"color: #778c5e;\"><strong>Jeremiah 9:23-24 (HCSB) <\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><sup>23 <\/sup>\u00a0This is what the LORD says: The wise man must\u00a0not\u00a0boast in\u00a0his\u00a0wisdom;\u00a0the strong man must\u00a0not\u00a0boast in\u00a0his\u00a0strength;\u00a0the wealthy man must\u00a0not\u00a0boast in\u00a0his\u00a0wealth. \u00a0<sup>24 <\/sup>\u00a0But the one who\u00a0boasts should\u00a0boast in\u00a0this,\u00a0that he<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>understands<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>knows<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Me\u2014that I am Yahweh, showing\u00a0faithful\u00a0love,\u00a0justice, and righteousness on\u00a0the\u00a0earth,\u00a0for I delight in\u00a0these\u00a0things.\u00a0\u230aThis\u00a0is\u230b the\u00a0LORD\u2019s\u00a0declaration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><strong>Understand<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0 to be circumspect and hence, intelligent; to be prudent, act wisely, give attention to, ponder, prosper; to look at\u00a0[Heb 7919]*<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>Know<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0 to know by observing and reflecting (thinking) and to know by experiencing (synonymously parallel with; to \u201chear\u201d, Ex 3:7; \u201csee\u201d, Gen 18:21; &amp; \u201cperceive\u201d, Job 28:7) [Heb 3045]*<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #778c5e;\">Col 4:4 (NIV)<\/span> <\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><sup>4 <\/sup>\u00a0Pray that I may proclaim it<\/span> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>clearly<\/strong> <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">as I should.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong>Clearly<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0 to render apparent, make manifest (as opposed to what is concealed and invisible); reveal the true character\u00a0[Gk 5319]*<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #778c5e;\">Ephesians 6:20 (HCSB)<\/span> <\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><sup>20 <\/sup>\u00a0For this I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I might be<\/span> <strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">bold<\/span> <\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">enough in Him to speak as I should.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left; padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><strong>Boldness<\/strong><\/span>:\u00a0 to be frank in utterance or confident in spirit and demeanor\u00a0[Gk 3955]*<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #778c5e;\">Matthew 28:19-20 (HCSB)<\/span> <\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\"><sup>19 <\/sup>\u00a0\u201cGo, therefore, and <strong><span style=\"color: #993366;\"><span style=\"color: #800080;\">make<\/span> <span style=\"color: #800080;\">disciples<\/span><\/span> <\/strong>of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, <sup>20 <\/sup><strong><span style=\"color: #800080;\">\u00a0teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you<\/span><\/strong>.
