\"Shoes<\/a>STANDING IN YOUR SHOES” <\/p>\n

Some times in my travels through a great book I run up on little stories that really hit home with my mind and touches my heart. Let me share this one with you because it speaks so much of the way I feel about you all back home that have been behind me in this work for so many years. <\/p>\n

“There was a lad in a country village, who after a great struggle reached the ministry. All through his days of study, a cobbler in the village had helped him. He was a simple man but well-read, and he loved God with all his heart. <\/p>\n

In time, the young lad he had helped became licensed to preach, and on the day of his ordination, the cobbler said to him, “Young man, I always had in my heart the desire to be a minister of the gospel, but circumstances of my life never made it possible. You are doing what was always my dream, but never reality. I want you to promise me one thing. I want you to let me make you a pair of shoes for nothing, and I want you to wear them in the pulpit when you preach. Then I’ll feel you are preaching the gospel I always wanted to preach, standing in my shoes.” <\/p>\n

I am wearing shoes that belong to many of you and I realize when I do this work it is something many of you would love to be doing, thank you for letting me stand in your shoes. I trust I will never let you down. In all my 30 years with New Tribes Mission I think these are the most exciting times of all. We have several tribes that will hear the gospel message this year and next year our son Bill will hopefully be giving the gospel to his work in the Ramu Valley. Many new believers have already come into the Kingdom of God and more are at the door step of salvation. Please pray for all of us here as we walk in the shoes of many.
