I am sitting here in the dark, thankful for the power to run my computer, send email and update our blog! Power is not something that we think of very often… power to run our computers, power to run our refrigerators, power to keep our food frozen in the freezers, power to run our washing machines, power to pump our water up from our well…. I’m sure you get the picture. We need electricity for so much!
Last Tuesday both of our generators were not working. One generator had been down for a couple weeks, waiting for a part or someone to reprogram the computer. The other generator just died… after thousands of hours of use, a engine rebuild, and thousands more hours of use, it couldn’t run anymore. We were all praying! We didn’t know if we could get our one semi functioning generator to work, or if we would have to consolidate all our refrigerators to the main kitchen’s walk-in cooler, powered by a borrowed smaller generator. And perhaps send all our frozen food out to our NTM center’s store freezer, or hook up smaller generators for each house? We are very thankful that God gave Jacob and the rest of the maintenance guys wisdom as Jacob called the Cummins generator technician who walked them through the process of reprogramming the generator’s computer unit. We were also very thankful for Jerry, an engineer with New Tribes Mission Aviation, who was able to come out to help on the spur of the moment. So after 3 hours we heard the sweet sound of the generator running! 🙂
We do have limited generator hours now since this generator is also on its last legs. So pray that it lasts!! We have another generator on its way. We ordered it months ago, but the process of shipping overseas, takes quite a long time, longer than we anticipated! In the meantime we are able to run the generator each day so that we can charge all the batteries on campus. But we must conserve our power when the generator is off, so that our batteries will last longer. We are so thankful for electricity!! And so thankful for such a powerful, wise God who can give us power to our campus!
This morning we enjoyed fellowshipping with the Bena believers at church. It is so amazing to see all that God has done in the lives of the Bena believers over the years. We are excited for the future knowing that God is still at work and has much more in store for the Bena!
We are excited for all that God has planned for us at Interface this summer as He sends students our way! We are gearing up for their arrival: Beth and Cherie are making the menu and working on food orders etc. Jacob and the Interns are getting the campus ready. We never know how God is going to work in the students’ lives while they are here, so we look forward to watching God work. And we know that God will continue to teach and grow us this summer as we serve the students and staff.
We are also excited about heading home soon for 9 months! God has provided so much for us already, we are so thankful!! Please continue to pray with us for a place to stay while we are in MA from November 2012 – March 2013. It is always exciting to see God work, as we trust Him. He always takes care of us in such amazing ways!
