We pray you are all enjoying a restful Easter weekend, remembering how privileged we are to have the Creator of the Universe as our Father and Caretaker, sending Jesus to die for our sins (past, present and future) and then rising again, conquering death. We are thankful for a four day weekend to rest and think on our loving Father in heaven. Recently Beth has been studying the book of James with a group of ladies. It has been so encouraging to remember that life is all about bringing glory to God, and consider eternity each day as we live life.

James 4:8 says, “Come near to God and he will come near to you”.

James 3:17 says, “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peace-makers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness”.

James 5:10 says, “Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know, we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job’s perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord is full of compassion and mercy.”

Some people have a hard time submitting to God and giving up what they think they will enjoy in life. So they go their own way pursuing their own joy yet not really finding true joy in the end. This is sad. We are reminded and thankful that the happiness we can find on earth that comes and goes is minimal in comparison to the joy we can find in a relationship with our God, our Father, as we obey and submit to Him, He blesses us with a peace that can’t be understood through crazy hard times and a joy in Him (who never changes and has our best in mind).

We are thankful that we have a Father in Heaven that wants us to ask for help, ask for wisdom, when we don’t know what to do. Prayer is powerful because we are talking to the Creator of the Universe who also knows all and loves each of His children unconditionally.

James 1:6 says, “But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”
