Through reading I Samuel with my women’s Bible study and reading my kids Bible stories, God has been teaching me about David. David had a crazy faith to trust God to do the impossible. He walked out to face a giant as a boy with just a stone and a sling shot! Saul in comparison when faced with the impossible, chose to take matters into his own hands and do things his way and not trust God. It seems that God delights in doing the impossible and in those people that trust Him in those things. Stories like the Israelites and the Red Sea and their departure from Egypt are just a few examples. God is able to do some absolutely amazing things! Why haven’t I been trusting Him?
The week before we left for Africa we did not have the finances to go to either Africa or Paris. All, my plans of working X amount of hours to save up X amount of dollars did not happen. I was really wondering how in the world this was going to work and started to worry. The day before we left we were handed the exact amount we needed to go by different people handing us either cash or checks at church. We were so encouraged, so humbled, so excited! God had proven himself again.
So as I have been reading about David, I have been encouraged to have a faith like his and continue to trust God to do the impossible. Lord, please help me remember this lesson in the months and years to come!
