Today I went with Andi, our fellow missionary friend to exercise with some of the local ladies. We exercised on the roof of one of their homes. We ran back and forth lifting our legs high, did squats, arm exercises with 1L water bottles that were filled, and other exercises on some mats on the floor. It was a lot of fun and a good work out. While counting out the repetitions we were doing in the exercises I heard how to count in French from 1 to 25 repeatedly. Who would have thought that exercise would be were someone could learn counting in French, build relationships with people, and have fun.
I am also seeing God answer prayer: I have been praying that God would allow this trip to help me see things that I like and could look forward to or at least feel comfortable with. He has been doing that. I am seeing many familiar things and things that I like. For instance: in church today I really enjoyed the worship style. It reminded me of where I grew up with the way the songs were sung, to the clapping and moving to the music that people were doing. I couldn’t understand what they were singing but God did and loved their songs. That was so cool to see. We sang in a local tribal language and French. I got to greet many people and practice my greeting and hold a beautiful African baby boy.
Things I didn’t like today: having a cockroach crawl on my thigh and seeing a mouse in the kitchen. Yuck. Oh well, it will be ok. That is what mouse traps and bug poison is for.
