All Can Be Crafty

February 20, 2011 by Jared and Diana Jantz

I2011 - 1 017 recently hosted a Staff Lady – Girl Dormer Event where we just got together to have some fun!

As the girls entered our home for what I had planned there were several comments ranging from, ‘oh wow, I haven’t done any crafts in a long time’ to … ‘I can’t do this, I am not crafty ’.

I was not letting anyone off the hook.  The house rules were set – “do one or two greeting cards of your choice and then there will be snacks”.  Samples were laid out to help the creative juices flow.

The girls had a choice of making a Birthday, 2011 - 1 015Just a Note, or a Hello card.  Then they added things that were die-cut like bugs, butterflies, fancy cupcake wrappers, a candle, yellow birds, or a gift box and bow.

It was so awesome to see their hesitancy fall away as they began choosing things they liked.  All of us are creative in some way so it was neat to give these girls this kind of an opportunity.

2011 - 1 022And yes, they did get the promised snack!

Thank you for being a part of this ministry and investing in the lives of these students.
