April Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>\u201cMay grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord!\u201d (2 Peter 1:2)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Earlier this year we enjoyed studying through the books of 1 &amp; 2\nPeter with small groups at our church. &nbsp;In\nthose letters the Apostle Peter encouraged a group of scattered believers\nfacing various trials (doesn\u2019t that sound like the Church today?) by directing\ntheir attention to Jesus Christ.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Jesus\u2019 precious blood had ransomed them from\ntheir former, futile ways!&nbsp; <\/li><li>His resurrection had caused them to be born\nagain to a living hope and heavenly inheritance! <\/li><li>His life of submission and obedience to the Father\nleft them an example to follow in suffering.&nbsp;\n<\/li><li>His future coming would bring salvation for\nbelievers and judgment on the unjust!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the midst of a global pandemic and economic depression, when it is\neasy to be anxious about what we <em>don\u2019t<\/em> know and <em>can\u2019t<\/em> control, we\nhave found encouragement by focusing on what we <em>do<\/em> know about the One\nwho <em>is<\/em> in control!&nbsp; For there is\nno other true source of grace or peace than Him<strong>!&nbsp; We are praying for those of you facing\n\u201cvarious trials\u201d right now and hope this past week\u2019s celebration of Christ\u2019s\nultimate victory over sin and death was a source of joy and comfort to you! <\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How has the Coronavirus outbreak affected our family and plans? <\/strong>        A month ago, we had just returned from a weekend in western Washington when our governor asked residents to suspend all gatherings and non-essential business or travel for two weeks.\u00a0 So, out of respect for our civil authorities and love for others, we cancelled a couple local church meetings and spent those weeks in quarantine.\u00a0 Jeff finished some work on the house for our landlord and I started sorting through stuff in preparation for our move to Papua New Guinea.\u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-0 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-2 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex again.\u00a0<br>The girls enjoyed our backyard Easter egg hunt. <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As our country continued to grapple with the spread of coronavirus, it became clear that we needed to put travel plans on hold even longer.\u00a0 That meant cancelling visits to another four churches in Montana this month.\u00a0 Although we hope to reschedule those, we are also trying to prepare for the possibility that social distancing may go on for a while and exploring other avenues for sharing our ministry.<strong>\u00a0 <\/strong>Thankfully, technology can go a long way in helping to close the distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Papua New Guinea is also under a state of emergency until June\n5th.&nbsp; So far only a few cases of CoVid-19\nhave been discovered there and<strong> we fervently pray that God will have mercy on\nthat nation!<\/strong>&nbsp; We were informed that\nno new work permits will be processed until June.&nbsp; <strong>This means our departure for PNG will be delayed\nat least a few weeks and subject to changes in the situation both here and\nthere.<\/strong>&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Naturally, it&#8217;s disappointing when things don&#8217;t go according to <em>our<\/em> plan, but we continue to trust\nthe Lord to accomplish <em>His<\/em> purposes, in <em>His<\/em> way, in <em>His<\/em> time!&nbsp; We will keep doing\neverything we can from home to raise the rest of our financial support and be\nready to move forward when the time comes!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is sad to know that many are facing this crisis without the knowledge of Christ and are unprepared for eternity.\u00a0 But God is patient, \u201cnot wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance\u201d (2 Peter 3:9). Until He comes again, we all have an essential job to do \u2013 love one another fervently and tell others about Him!\u00a0 <strong>Please join us in praying for our coworkers around the world, and specifically in PNG, <\/strong>who continue to minister in difficult circumstances while following local government mandates.\u00a0 <strong>Pray that nothing prevents the life-saving message of the gospel from going forth and that hearts are prepared to receive it!\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>May you \u201cgrow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen!\u201d \u00a0<\/strong>    <strong>(2 Peter 3:18)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Praises:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>For God&#8217;s &#8220;great mercy&#8221; which &#8220;has\u00a0caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for [us], who by God&#8217;s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time&#8221;!
