On Friday, May 4th, Mandy, Paisley, and I experienced the scariest moment of our lives. Paisley had been sick for about a week running low grade fevers (really nothing to worry about so we thought). That Friday morning as I laid her down on the floor to get her dressed for childcare, her body began to convulse and a blank stare came over her face. She was having a seizure. Mandy (the nurse!) quickly rushed to check on all of Paisley’s vital signs and assess the situation. As Paisley laid there unresponsive our hearts were overcome with what might happen to our little girl.
I then called 911 and they sent an ambulance. All we could do in the mean time was cry out to God. By the time they got there, Paisley had already woken up from the deep sleep that the seizure had thrown her body into and you could tell she was out of it. They took her to the hospital and ran a few tests. All tests checked out to be good, but we did learn that she had an ear infection. The doctor in the E.R. was concerned that Paisley had a seizure with only a low-grade temp. Usually, babies only have them when their temp is 103 or higher. This caused us to be concerned too, and was just another thing we were going to have to trust the Lord with.
Thank God with us that they gave Paisley medicine and that she is over the ear infection and back to normal now. Mandy and Paisley visited the doctor this past Wednesday and she said that she is confident that the seizure was caused by Paisley’s fever, which was a relief to Mandy and I. Wow, sometimes life throws things at us that we cannot handle on our own. We are thankful to belong to a God who cares for and loves us beyond measure. Thank you all for praying for us and to all those here at the MTC who drew around us and showed us Christ’s love.
