Recently in talking to a friend I realized how important pit stop strategies are to car racing. In the long run, those seconds spent in repairs are an investment in the big picture of the race. It has been obvious that God has called Joyce & I in for an unscheduled pit stop.
In November I had to pull in for repairs to a herniated disk in my neck. Surgery went well and recovery has been slow and steady. I have gotten back use of my right arm, although there still is some numbness in my thumb and forearm along with pain in the shoulder. This is expected to pass in time.
Then on Christmas morning, Joyce surprised us all and had a small stroke (known as a TIA) and was hospitalized for several days. We are so thankful that she was not left with any permanent damage. Her doctor feels that it would be unwise to ignore the stroke’s warning before we get traveling again. So Joyce has a line up of tests ahead of her in these next weeks. The wonderful news is that everything they are looking into is very treatable with medicines. Please pray with us for wisdom as to the cause and treatment.
Then we look forward to getting back into the “race.” We are planning to be in Bolivia the month of February. The missionaries in Bolivia are serving faithfully to see strong churches established in the eight tribes in which we are working and to reach the three other tribal groups who are without a clear Gospel witness in their heart language.
We appreciate your prayers as we follow our Lord through this pit stop. He is so worthy! Before long we’ll be back on the track…thanking Him for the opportunities that come our way…and thanking Him that you are part of the crew!
