New Believers Face Opposition

August 6, 2008 by Jerry and Joyce McDaniels

the Fishers of Men in one Kuna village face opposition

As the new believers in one Kuna village take stands according to God’s Book, they face persecution and ridicule.

Some new believers in one of the villages that just recently heard the Gospel for the first time have begun their spiritual life with hardship. They decided to take God’s Book at face value and committed themselves to obedience. But this meant they have had to refrain from some of the normal practices in the community that contradict with the Word.

They have faced opposition from the village leadership and the community for their decision. There have been threats that the teaching of God’s Book would be halted and that the new believers would be kicked out of the village.

The church leaders from another Kuna village that have been overseeing this outreach answered from God’s Word and the situation seems to be calmer after the meeting. But there is still concern for these young believers and the Kuna missionaries who are facing this opposition.

Pray that God would strengthen His servants in this village, giving them boldness and wisdom as they teach the Word. Ask God to encourage the new believers as they take stands and make sacrifices to obey His Word. Pray that the new church will have a wonderful testimony in the community and that many more would be drawn into the Family.
