Countdown to Literacy Workshop

February 8, 2015 by Jerry and Joyce McDaniels

This week begins the Literacy Workshop here in Colombia. We’ve been getting all the language data ready for the Jiw and Cubeo languages, making sure everything ready for the new computer program that will help us write their literacy materials.

Just look at the letters in the Cubeo language! There are vowels with marked nasalization, high tone, and then nasalization and tone together on the same vowel.

So we appreciate your prayers as we begin training 10 consultants arriving from many countries in South America. Then they will put the training into practice by working with us to help write literacy materials for these 2 language groups. We are getting so excited we can hardly sleep! It is time for the Jiw and Cubeo people to have the opportunity to learn to read their own language, so that they might have access to God’s Word which is being translated! We appreciate your prayers for this workshop and all the work ahead.
