(Part 2)
Preparing the Consultants

Most people picture our ministry happening once we land in another country. But the truth is, the real adventure starts long before the airport. Hidden behind every workshop are dozens of unseen steps—emails, planning sessions, consultant training, and problem‑solving—that quietly pave the way for the work you do see.
Each workshop is a training ground for literacy consultants. Our goal isn’t simply to travel the world writing curriculum. It’s to equip local consultants who can one day lead this work in their own countries, in the different languages there, and train others.
Before, during, and after each workshop, these new consultants take on more and more responsibility. At first, they observe. Then they assist. Eventually, they begin guiding teams through the process themselves. We stay close—answering questions, reviewing drafts, helping troubleshoot—but the long‑term vision is clear: sustainable, locally led literacy work.
And that kind of growth doesn’t happen by accident. It takes hours of correspondence, coaching, reviewing materials, and cheering them on as they step into new roles. It’s slow, steady, deeply relational work—and it’s one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
We appreciate your prayers for us as we work on these behind-the-scenes preparations and get ready to travel next month to Mexico.
