What a special time we had in Guinea! Thanks so much for your prayers. We met so many dear servants of the Lord, investing their lives in difficult locations. The majority of our time was spent with the team among the Landuma people. After learning about the situation there and looking over their literacy materials, we were able to make some suggestions that will strengthen their literacy outreach into the community. Pray that God’s Word will break through the cultural and religious barriers among the people groups of Guinea. Some stories are just best told by pictures, so click on the photo tab above and go to the 3rd album, “our last trip – Guinea, West Africa.”
So far no signs of malaria. Many of you have been praying, especially for Joyce. Malaria can take several months to present itself – so we continue to trust and move ahead!
In 7 days Joyce is flying to Asia-Pacific for a wonderful opportunity. She will be helping with a literacy consultant training workshop. After several days of training the consultants, two missionary teams that are ready to work on their literacy programs will be joining the consultants. The missionaries will have several friends from their villages who will help work on stories for the primers. So it will quite a group!
Joyce will meet up with Kyla, another literacy consultant and they will travel together. Pray for wisdom, strength and health. She will be jumping 13 hours ahead and that is quite an adjustment! Also, we got word that Lori, the literacy consultant from PNG who has organized the training, just found out that her visa was denied. Pray that this can be resolved so that Lori can attend. Otherwise, Joyce’s responsibilities will be greatly increased!
While Joyce is gone those 25 days, I will keep busy with preparations for the Kuna literacy teachers’ training in Panama. We are so excited that very soon the literacy materials will be in the Kuna villages as the people prepare for the upcoming whole Bible in Kuna. Just imagine, soon they will have the Old Testament for the very first time! What cause for rejoicing…and literacy preparations so that it can be read with understanding!
Thanks for holding us up in your prayers during these busy months.
