And it’s a welcome and exciting change for us!

The years of packed international travel schedules and the constant pressure of the next workshop and language has reached the “tipping point” where many of the countries have trained literacy consultants who are functioning. That is so encouraging and allows us to focus this year on developing some literacy resources. Next year, 2021, looks like it will be back to international travel and workshops – but this year is a gift to invest in two important projects for which we would like to ask you to be praying.

Two important projects for 2020:

Revision of the Literacy Manual

This book is used in the missionary training centers and on the fields covering the ways that literacy supports church development as well as the step-by-step procedure from entering a community, creating motivation and interest in literacy, determining a good alphabet and spelling of words, writing the literacy curriculum using the literacy software, teaching the first classes and equipping local literacy teachers. So it’s kind of a big deal! The great thing is that it is a team project with us drafting chapters and then the consultants all giving input. Once completed, the Manual will be passed on to the translating teams (Spanish, Portuguese, French, etc).

Training videos

These will be a resource for consultants and the training centers of 17 videos covering different topics. This way if a consultant or trainer needs to refresh on certain details like loading the literacy software, they can go right to that video and get the answers to their questions. In the end it will save us time writing emails to answer questions. Please pray for wisdom in the details of this second big project!

This year is proving to be one with a different rhythm than the last years.
