HI! This blog is still under construction. Don’t worry, there will be pictures as soon as we figure out what we are doing here. 🙂
In the meantime…what is going on with the Rich family?
We had a very smooth trip back to New Tribes’ Missionary Training Center in Missouri. Cali and Karina were very well-composed for most of the 12 hours en route, which is a God-thing, because on a typical 30 minute car ride they are not well-composed. And since the trip was uneventful, I have no stories to tell of it. But that’s an answer to prayer. Thank you all who prayed, and thanks a heap to you who got up at 2 am to pray for us as we got up and hit the road. You are crazy…and we are grateful to you.
Our hearts are refreshed and our zeal is renewed from the time with our family and church family in Wisconsin. You have reminded us why we are here in training for tribal missions: because of the all-surpassing value of God. Because He is worthy of the worship of the nations. Because God is so good that everyone, to the last tribesman living in the last corner of the earth, should have the opportunity to worship Him. Thank you, fellow “Salemites”, for being our friends and co-workers and family, and for, by your passion for God, renewing our vision.
As soon as we got here we moved to a new apartment, which is already proving to be a big blessing. It actually takes less time for us to get ready for class in the morning, because we have more space, so we don’t have to dig or climb to find the oatmeal or pots or anything else that we need for breakfast. Cali and Karina are enthralled with the bathtub and I am delighted with the washing machine. Jevon likes his desk, and the big window and quiet space that make it a good place to study. I like the kitchen too. I really really like the kitchen. It makes me want to serve you dinner. I wish you could come over here and eat with us, and we could talk about God’s goodness over a warm bowl of stew.
A nurse is here on campus, teaching us a class on International Health and Wellness. Rumor has it that she will demonstrate how to put in a stomach tube, and also that we will have hands-on practice learning how to give someone a shot. In the meantime, we are scrambling our brains to keep up with everything we are learning from her lectures. There is a dual emphasis on keeping ourselves well while we are overseas, and on helping the tribal people we will be serving.
That’s what is happening with this family; we’d love to hear from yours. What is God doing in Eau Claire? In Long Creek? In Monroe? Or Sanford? At your work? At your school? In your home? In your heart? We will praise God with you and pray for you.
Love from the Rich family-
Jevon, Danica, Cali, and Karina
