Our Hot water system was still not working. Our Tech guy, Josh Simmons, made two trips up to work on our plumbing situation. Thankfully, he was able to replace old plumbing and improve the whole system and put in an expansion tank which made the hot water flow but caused numerous leaks in our old used plumbing. Remember we had to rebuild in 2010 and to save money we used a lot of old plumbing parts. But Josh put in new improved pipes, shut off valves for each tap, and now we have a great working system with plenty of hot water. Up until now for a few months, Jim was heating the water in our old hot water system that was no longer attached to our house. He then would carry the hot water to the house and we were back to using bucket showers. Sadly we are not at home now to enjoy it.

One of our support guys had bought fuel and food supplies to bring up thinking that they would have to be carried over the landslide. Due to a number of things, the trip kept getting delayed. Then the landslide was removed so when Josh came up the first trip, he brought our supplies in. Then we had to leave.
Since October Jim has had numerous illnesses that come around, absolutely no energy and if you know Jim, you know that is unlike him. He is seldom sick and has lots of energy. So we came down to town on the 20th (had a guy there who could drive us out). Our doctor has him on medication, took lots of blood to run tests. There are some other things going on also and we are waiting until Friday to see if this procedure works or not. It may mean a trip to Australia for further treatment. So your prayers are much appreciated that we won’t need to go to Australia. Our doctor said that Jim needed to stay here for a couple of weeks and not go back home.
So Thursday I returned to Dom with Josh driving our truck, so that I could pack some more things that were needed for a longer stay and give our security guy some more supplies for his stay each night.
I had just arrived back on Friday, when our coworker called us to inform us that our landowner, security guy and one of our Bible teacher’s house had burned down. He had just bought meat bird chicks. He was keeping them warm with a fire in their hauskuk (Kitchen house) and the fire was too big and caught the kitchen (all bush materials) on fire and then it spread to his house. They were not able to save anything. Bapka and Silia have grown immensely in the Lord as individuals and as a couple. They often are known to help older people with firewood, help others with food. They are just trying to earn money so they can send two of their kids to high school. This is a huge blow to them. We feel frustrated that we are away and our coworkers are also leaving for a few weeks so not able to help at this time. We would appreciate prayer that they would not be angry or bitter but would trust God through this huge trial in their lives. We are praying also that the church would rally around them. Right now no one has any money as the deaths of recent months have depleted their resources.
We were wanting to meet with the church in regards to appointing and training teachers, both men and women, and were wanting to start a literacy class but that is all on hold. Jim was also wanting to get with Gena and go through the Dom New Testaments and work on the things that needed to be changed so we can print the hardback version. We know that we are in God’s hands and that His timing is perfect so we wait. Your prayers are appreciated.
