{"id":7,"date":"2007-01-19T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2007-01-19T05:00:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2009-08-16T03:50:11","modified_gmt":"2009-08-16T07:50:11","slug":"ice-storm-in-the-ozarks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/jim-turek\/2007\/01\/19\/ice-storm-in-the-ozarks\/","title":{"rendered":"Ice Storm in the Ozarks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--StartImportPhoto--><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/jim-turek\/files\/2007\/01\/376_8818.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-104\" style=\"margin-right: 10px;margin-bottom: 5px\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/jim-turek\/files\/2007\/01\/376_8818.jpg\" alt=\"Icy Morning\" width=\"300\" \/><\/a><!--EndImportPhoto--><span class=\"bigText-red\"><\/p>\n<p><strong>It was a week ago today that the storm started, and it came in 3 waves.<\/strong>&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Each wave added to the one before, with the last punch Sunday night, which is when we lost power.&nbsp; Our men were scrambling to do everything they could, all the while fighting the elements.&nbsp; They did a magnificent job, and we can&#8217;t thank them enough.&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p><!--StartImportThumbnail--><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/jim-turek\/files\/2007\/01\/376_8972.jpg\" rel=\"thumbnail\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-104\" style=\"float:left; margin-right:5px; border: 0.5pt solid #BCC4C8;\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/jim-turek\/files\/2007\/01\/376_8972.jpg\" alt=\"The branch that took out the power\" width=\"150\" title=\"The branch that took out the power\" \/><\/a><!--EndImportThumbnail--><\/p>\n<p>Power came back on 27 hours later, and we thank God that it wasn&#8217;t any longer.&nbsp;&nbsp; Many more folks in the surrounding areas are faring far worse than we, for they are stll without water or electric.<\/p>\n<p>Classes have been postponed for a week as we get back in operation, and our students are able to drive the roads.<\/p>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jim watched as the ice-laden branch broke from the tree in front of our house, knocking out power to the entire campus.
