The Question Is The Same…

October 10, 2013 by Joanna K Jansma

A sudden death yesterday in the village of a baby girl has everyone asking those “Why?” questions.

“Did we anger the spirits cutting down sagu trees?” “Was it from the spirits down at the river?” “What did YOU do wrong that your baby died?” “Why would she die?” These are the questions the Nagi are asking. The answers are that something wrong was done angering the spirits that caused their child to die.

“Was it a relapse from a recent bout of pneumonia or malaria?” we wonder. “Why did you allow this death, God?” we ask. Yet we know that the only answer is that we don’t know why, but we can trust God’s goodness in allowing it.

There is a big difference in the answers to your questions when you don’t know the Truth.

Keep praying for our Nagi friends that one day they would be able to face these “Why” questions with answers that point them to the truth and not appeasing spirits.
