Kandi and I both grew up on the mission field, Kandi in Brazil and me in Bolivia. We both came to know the Lord at a young age. We both saw the need of the Gospel first hand. Imagine standing on the bank of a river and seeing a village on the other side. Standing there you realize not only is this the end of the road, but this is as far as the Gospel has reached. Those on the other side of the river don’t speak your language and have never heard the name of Jesus. As you stand there you feel so helpless. Growing up in Bolivia and seeing this type of need firsthand how can I not be involved in the task of taking the Gospel to those who have no opportunity to hear unless someone goes and learns their language well enough to tell them. Kandi and I have both seen the need have been pursuing full time ministry ever since.
New Tribes Mission is trusting the Lord for 500 new missionaries to go to Brazil because of the huge need there.
Here are some of the ways God has been preparing us for cross culture missions in Brazil. Growing up overseas we have both been submersed in foreign cultures. Kandi was born and raised in Brazil and spent 6 months living with a Brazilian family. I grew up speaking Spanish in Bolivia, and spent two months in Brazil on a missions trip. We both have associates degrees in biblical studies, and bachelors degrees in cross culture Missions. We are being sent by Calvary Bible church with the goal of seeing a tribal group come to faith in Jesus Christ and grow into maturity as part of the body of Christ.
