Greetings from Central Florida
Time does fly. I’m currently wrapping up my Summer 2024 home assignment and getting ready for my return to PNG. Praise the Lord for the good things and the bad things that have happened this summer.
As many of you may know, my dad passed away from heart surgery complications in early June. Praise the Lord I was able to get here a week & ½ before, and was able to spend those last few days with him. His life was one very well spent serving the Lord, and he was used to reach many, many people through the many ministries he served in. We are comforted in knowing we’ll see him again in Heaven.
Please do keep my family, especially my mom in your prayers.
Please also pray for PNG. There’s an ongoing supply problem regarding the import Jet A-1 aviation fuel. This is affecting both commercial flights and our mission aviation flights. Commercially, we’re having difficulty traveling around the nation, and getting things like mail on a timely basis. Mission wise, this may reduce the number of flights to our bush location. Please pray that a long-term solution can be found.
Meanwhile, I finally had surgery to fix my ‘trigger finger’ (a finger that painfully sticks in the closed position). So far, it’s healing up pretty good, even if it’s still a bit stiff and painful. Please pray that it heals up all the way before I get back to PNG.
Praise the Lord that I was able to work once again as a counselor for my Church’s Benevolence Program this summer. It’s a ministry that I enjoy doing, and it’s good to keep active in ministry during these times back in the USA. I’ve also kept up my usual work for the PNG Business Office. As much as I enjoy being here, I do miss my nice PNG office with the standup desk, dual monitors, and full sized ergonomic keyboard.
Please keep me in your prayers as I depart for the long trip back over the last weeks of August. Pray that all the flights would go well, and I could get right back to work. Pray also for more people to help work the field of PNG, especially those who can help out in essential roles such as teachers, builders, IT people, and others able to assist in the Business Office.
Finally, if you would like to assist my ministry by giving, please go to https://ethnos360.org/missionaries/joe-evans for detailed information.
Thanks again, and may God bless you.
Joe Evans
