{"id":26,"date":"2009-10-15T10:54:16","date_gmt":"2009-10-15T14:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/?p=26"},"modified":"2009-10-15T10:54:16","modified_gmt":"2009-10-15T14:54:16","slug":"moving-overseas-with-a-100lb-limit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/2009\/10\/15\/moving-overseas-with-a-100lb-limit\/","title":{"rendered":"Moving overseas with a 100lb limit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With only three months to go before I leave for Papua New Guinea, it\u2019s time to begin thinking about packing and moving.\u00a0 Which is a difficult thing, as everyone who has had to move knows.\u00a0 What to take, what to get rid of, what to do with those boxes of items that are too valuable to throw away.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Now imagine you had a weight limit of 100 pounds per person- the standard luggage allowance for international air travel.\u00a0 Kind of intimidating, isn\u2019t it.\u00a0 Any additional items will cost extra either in overweight fees or international shipping rates.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 So, what don\u2019t I need to take?\u00a0 I don\u2019t have to worry about furniture, appliances, or cookware- those things I can either make there or buy in the country.\u00a0 In fact, it looks like I\u2019ll be buying the stuff I left behind 3 years ago.\u00a0 Tools is another thing I won\u2019t have to worry about- I left quite a few woodworking tools there this summer, and I have just been told that the region was able to buy a set of mechanic\u2019s tools for my use- which will save quite a bit of money on my end.\u00a0 And I\u2019ve been told that my old Danelecto bass guitar and amp have been located!\u00a0 So, that should take care of my musical instrument needs (though I\u2019ll be taking a nice little hand drum along-as there are quite a few bass players in the Madang region).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 Now that I don\u2019t need to take a whole lot of heavy, bulky items, what do I have to take along?\u00a0 Clothes are one item I\u2019ll need to bring- it\u2019s kind of hard to find things in my size over there.\u00a0 Books are one thing- I\u2019m quite a reader, and have quite a heavy collection of reading material.\u00a0 Sadly, I\u2019ll have to sort through and leave many behind.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 And then there is the matter of a few things I\u2019m still trying to find in New Guinea.\u00a0 I\u2019ve had only one lead on a motorcycle, and it\u2019s a little shaky.\u00a0 If it works out, I\u2019ll have to set aside some room in my luggage for motorcycle related items- riding gear, parts, filters, ect.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 So, please pray for wisdom in knowing what exactly to pack.\u00a0 Pray also for the Lord\u2019s provision of the items I\u2019ll have to buy there.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Moving is tough enough as it is without a 100 pound weight limit.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":182,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_genesis_hide_title":false,"_genesis_hide_breadcrumbs":false,"_genesis_hide_singular_image":false,"_genesis_hide_footer_widgets":false,"_genesis_custom_body_class":"","_genesis_custom_post_class":"","_genesis_layout":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-26","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-uncategorized","7":"entry"},"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/182"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=26"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/26\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=26"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=26"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blogs.ethnos360.org\/joe-evans\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=26"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
